The Tigers became the fourth No. 1 seed to reach the Elite Eight and never looked vulnerable in doing so. Memphis, which will play Texas on Sunday, closed the first half with a 15-0 run for a 50-20 lead. Freshman Derrick Rose scored 27 points and Chris Douglas-Roberts added 23 for Memphis, which reached a regional final for the third consecutive year. Read more...

The top-seeded Jayhawks got 16 points from Brandon Rush and 15 from Russell Robinson in a rout over the 12thseeded Wildcats. Now the only team standing between Kansas and its first Final Four trip since 2003 is tournament upstart Davidson. Seven three-pointers and four alley-oop dunks helped the Jayhawks take a 41-22 lead. Tiny Davidson’s little big man came up even bigger as the 10th-seeded Wildcats extended the nation’s longest winning streak to 25 games and advanced to the Midwest Regional final. Stephen Curry had six three-pointers and finished with 33 points, giving him 103 points in three NCAA Tournament games. Curry outscored the Badgers by himself in the second half, 22-20. Davidson, which has an enrollment of approximately 1,700, last reached a regional final in 1969 when it lost to North Carolina. Read more...

Stanford’s big men could not stop any sized Texas player as the Longhorns took a dominating victory in the South Regional semifinals. Point guard D.J. Augustin had 21 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds and Dexter Pittman, the Longhorns’ 299-pound center, helped control the middle. Stanford center Brook Lopez scored 24 of the Cardinal’s first 48 points, but he finished with 26 points to go with 10 rebounds. The Cardinal were within 52-51 in the second half before the Longhorns went on a 20-3 run. Read more...
