With come-ons constructed around Jacuzzi tubs and bedroom occupancy, a revival of swapping, that disco-vintage entendre, and the strict insistence on the online posting of recent photos — the home-exchange concept sounds kinda, well, hot.
And Home Exchange, the 15-year-old service that has already inspired a randy movie starring Cameron Diaz and Jude Law (last year’s “The Holiday”), totally eggs on the “your place or mine?” groove: “Think of home exchange,” the company’s Web site purrs, “as Internet dating for your home.”
For Arkansas families — or at least the eight households who have listed their homes for swapping — the service is a blend of the homey and the hip, a pragmatic but thrilling way to see the world and display hospitality in absentia at the same time, reports .
