BEIJING — People were weeping. There may be no way to put this story into an American perspective, no way to explain just what Liu Xiang means to people here. It’s not enough to say that in China, he’s part Babe Ruth, part Jackie Robinson, part the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team. He’s also the man who showed a nation what’s possible.
