CONWAY - The Faulkner County Library will host an author discussion, book signing and reading with published author Angela Thompson, author of Where the Heck is that Place Called Hope?

The discussion will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at the library, 1900 Tyler St.

Where the Heck is that Place Called Hope? is described as a satirical, yet serious look at depression through the eyes of the sufferer, his/her spouse, child, and co-workers.

Thompson grew up in Little Rock in the 1950s in a typical neighborhood. Her family was typical, except for the mental illness affecting most of them.

Depression was the most prevalent. She was diagnosed and began treatment at the age of 4.

Thompson persevered and is now trying to educate the sufferer, their families, coworkers and friends.

Thompson married her high school sweetheart, Frank, and they have been together for more than 30 years. They adopted two children, now 22 and 24. Outwardly, they live a “normal” life. Inwardly, they struggle each day, as a team, with the challenges of her illness.

The author discussion is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
