Registration for Story Time program

MALVERN — Registration continues for The Malvern-Hot Spring County Library’s Story Time program for 2-year-olds and preschool-age children. The classes are free, but do require registration. Class size is limited, and classes start on Tuesday, Jan. 22. For more information or to register, stop by the library at 202 East Third St. or call (501) 332-5441.

Support group meeting

SHERIDAN — An Alzheimer’s Family Support Group Meeting will be held at 10 a.m. in Room No. 4 at the Sheridan Recreation Center. The speaker will be Dr. Graham Reid.

Public meeting

BENTON — The third public hearing about mistreated animals is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Courtroom No. 1 at the Saline County Courthouse in downtown Benton.

Getting healthier

MALVERN — “Steps to a Healthier You” by Cheryl Maxwell will be held at the Malvern-Hot Spring County Library from 5:30-6:30 p.m. For more information, call (501) 332-5441.

Home energy assistance

BENTON — The Central Arkansas Development Council begins accepting applications for the Winter Home Energy Assistance Program. This program assists households with home energy and heating bills. The eligible household must meet income guidelines and furnish proof of all household income for the month prior to the month of application. Applications are accepted Monday through Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon in Clark, Hot Spring and Saline counties. Applications are accepted Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to Noon in Montgomery. Charitable Bingo

ARKADELPHIA - The McLean Center in downtown Arkadelphia will hold a game of charitable bingo at 6:30 p.m. All proceeds will benefit Group Living Inc. For more information, call 870-246-5849.

German studies

BENTON — “The German Presence in 19th Century Arkansas and Saline County,” a program by the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies, will be presented from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the David O. Demuth Room of the Herzfeld Memorial Library, 1800 Smithers Drive. For more information, call (501) 778-4766.

School meeting

HASKELL — The Harmony Grove School District will hold a public meeting at 7 p.m. to discuss the district’s 10-year master facility plan. The plan may be reviewed in the superintendent’s office from Monday to Friday.

TUESDAY, JAN. 15

Celiac Sprue meeting

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — The Celiac Sprue Association — Chapter No. 92 will meet at 10:30 a.m. in the upper meeting room at Cranford’s Grocery Store, located just outside the East Gate of Hot Springs Village. Their address is 25255 Arkansas 5, Lonsdale. Celiac Disease (CD), also known as celiac sprue or gluten-sensitive enteropathy, is a genetically linked autoimmune disorder that can affect both children and adults. Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting. The program will be a DVD of an interview with a woman whose autistic son improved dramatically when gluten and dairy products were removed from his diet. Scrapbooking

MALVERN — The Central Arkansas Development Council will hold a scrapbooking “crop” at the Malvern Workforce Center at 1735 E. Sullenberger. The registration fee is $25 per person. Registration will be accepted early or at the door. All proceeds from the event will go to scholarships for the Pike County Single Parent Scholarship Fund. The crop hours are: from 4 p.m. to midnight Friday, Jan. 18, from 10 a.m. to midnight Saturday, Jan. 19, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20. Participants may come and go. Chili supper

SPARKMAN — The Crudup Foundation will hold a chili supper from 6:30 -8:30 p.m. at the Crudup Foundation Building at 537 Kelly St. in Sparkman. A donation of $5 will be accepted at the door. All proceeds will benefit the Crudup Foundation. For more information, contact Bre Sims at (870) 403-0679.

Jazz concert

BRYANT — The Bryant High School Band will hold a jazz concert at 7:30 p.m. at Grace Church, 12900 Cantrell Road in Little Rock. Admission is free. Foundation Ball

MALVERN — The Hot Spring County Medical Foundation will host a Foundation Benefit Ball at the Malvern County Club. It includes dinner, dancing and a silent auction. Proceeds will be benefit the HSCO Medical Foundation to fund projects and equipment purchases. Tickets may be purchased by contacting the foundation office at (501) 332-7361.
