The son of former New York Knicks Hall-of-Famer Patrick Ewing may also end up playing for a New York team -- the Harlem Globetrotters.
Patrick Ewing Jr., who played the past three seasons at Georgetown University, was among six former collegiate players selected in the team’s second annual “draft” to try out for the Globetrotters later this year.
Also chosen were Sonny Weems of Arkansas, William Bullard of Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Tay Fisher of Siena, Longar Longar of Oklahoma, and Donald Thomas of Auburn.
Ewing, who was chosen by the Sacramento Kings in the second round of the National Basketball Association draft last week, averaged 6.1 points and 4.2 rebounds with the Hoyas last season.
The Globetrotters, a touring basketball team known for its showmanship, will hold the try outs some time in the fall. Ant Atkinson, out of Barton College, was the top pick in the team’s draft last season and went on to make the team.
