Archey Fork fireworks rescheduled for tonight

LITTLE ROCK — Saturday’s wet weather made the ninth annual Archey Fork Summer Festival a soggy dud of a day, but organizers have rescheduled the Chesapeake Energy fireworks show for tonight at dark. There will also be live entertainment, food and drinks, all at Archey Fork park.
“We had the fishing derby, because kids will fish in any kind of weather, especially if its catfish, and the car show was good, butthe rain made it too muddy to do much else,” said Jason Hayes, president of the Clinton Association for Revitalization and Excellence.
“On the bright side, Thursday is basically Friday because so many people have the Fourth of July off so the fireworks will be a great way to get the holiday started for a lot of folks,” Hayes said.
The Conway Symphony Orchestra’s Lights Over The Lake performance Saturday eveningat Beaverfork Lake Park was canceled due to rain. According to a recorded message on the orchestra’s telephone number, the concert will not be rescheduled.
Only two events were canceled at the 20th annual Great Arkansas Pig Out in Morrilton because of the rain. Earle Eichenberger, chairman of the 2008 Great Arkansas Pig Out committee, said the Piggie Dash 1K for children and the Tour De Oink bicycle race were called off.
“We moved the hog-calling competition inside, and it cleared off enough we had our concerts. We had about 3,000 for the Aaron Tippin concert and the fireworks display after his show, so that’s not bad considering it rained all day,” Eichenberger said.
According to weather.com Clinton, Conway and Morrilton received 1.43 inches of rain Saturday.
Mostly dry weather is predicted for the holiday weekend.
