PINE BLUFF — Almost 50,000 patrons have attended events so far this year at Hestand Stadium in Pine Bluff, which is making for a banner year for the 7,000-seat venue.
Stadium board president Dale Dixon says among other events, the stadium has hosted a bullriding competition and a meeting of the Arkansas Quarter Horse Association in May, which featured about 3,000 horses and people from 22 states.
Dixon says the stadium is always open to non-profit organizations and that it survives because of the time donated by volunteers and through some government funding.
The stadium was donated about 40 years ago by the George Hestand family.
Coming events include the Mid-South Rodeo Association in the Arena on July 26 and the Southeast Arkansas District Fair & Rodeo from September 29th-October 4th.
