LITTLE ROCK — HORSESHOE BEND - The Dogwood Days festivities in Horseshoe Bend will kick off Friday, April 11, with the March of Dimes Extravaganza featuring special guest Keith Jackson, NFL Hall of Famer and motivational speaker.
At 5:30 p.m. there will be an all-you-can-eat buffet at the Tip Top Room at the Hillhigh Resort in Horseshoe Bend with karaoke after supper. Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for adults in advance, $20 at the door. Tickets are available at the Chamber of Commerce and Horseshoe Bend Florist.
Music in the Mountains will hold their Founder’s Day Show Friday evening featuring Gene Williams, Katie Lynn, Joe Sanders of the Bald Knobber’s show in Branson, Mo., State Rep. J.R. Rogers, some of the original founders of the city and many guest performers.
A public meet and greet will be held at the City Council Chambers in City Hall from 4-5:30 p.m. The show begins at 6:30 at the Horseshoe Bend Theatre. Tickets are available for $7 at FNBC Horseshoe Bend Branch, B&B Supply in Franklin and Gamer’s Connection.
The celebration continues on Saturday, April 12, with the Pet Pageant in the Garden Club Gazebo beginning at 9:15 a.m. (in case of rain, it will be moved to the upper deck at the rear of the mall above the Chamber of Commerce). There will be a silent auction beginning at 9 a.m. in the upper Diamond B Mall.
The Two-Man Scramble at the golf course at Turkey Mountain kicks off at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start. The scramble will feature a$10,000 hole-in-one prize.
There will be a Two-Person Team Bowling Tournament beginning at 10 a.m. at Horseshoe Lanes.
A youth golf tournament for ages 14 and under will be at the Cedar Glade Golf Course, 18-hole par 3, beginning at 2 p.m.
And the entertainment continues with the Music in the Mountains Idol contest to be held at the theatre at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The contest is open to all Izard County youth in two divisions, ages 9 to 12 and ages 13 to 18. Entry fee is $25. First prize is $70; second prize is $60; third prize will be $45; and fourth place will receive a plaque.
Judging will be by the Alta Street Blues Band. Winners will perform during the variety show on Saturday at 6 p.m. Registration deadline is Monday, April 7, and entry forms are available at the Chamber of Commerce or Gamer’s Connection. The Horseshoe Bend Theatre variety show starts at 6 p.m. Saturday and includes entertainment by the Alta Street Blues Band, Jeff Michael Pratt Band, Dale Boyd and the winners of the Music In The Mountains Idol Contest. An awards presentation will also be held.

Booths run from $10 to $50 depending on the location, and an additional $20 if electric hookups are needed.
