A small craft advisory remains in effect on the Arkansas River according to te Army Corps of Engineers.

Recent rain in the Arkansas River basin in Oklahoma caused flows to recede slower than expected. Advisories are issued when flows reach 70,000 cubic feet per second. As currents become swifter and stronger, large debris is carried downstream and activities such as fishing, swimming, anchoring and rafting will be extremely dangerous.

Flows are expected to drop as the weekend nears, but not enough to lift the small craft advisory. More rain could cause the advisory to stay in effect longer and flows to climb higher.

Article information from the Army Corps of Engineers.

All pleasure boaters are urged to stay off the river until flows recede to safe levels. Daily river information can be obtained on the Internet at www.swl-wc.usace.army.mil.
