Greg and Hannah Lee have made a significant contribution to support the University of Arkansas Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and the CHAMPS Life Skills program, announced Jeff Long, Arkansas vice chancellor and director of athletics on Saturday.

As part of the Greg and Hannah Lee Student Development Endowment, Razorback teams will compete for the newly created Lee Spencer Life Skills Award. The award will be presented annually to the Razorback team that demonstrates the commitment, character and integrity reflected in the life of the late Lee Spencer.

"Hannah and I wanted to do something for the University of Arkansas in memory of our dear friend Lee Spencer,” Greg Lee said. “Lee (Spencer) always saw the best in everyone and he wanted them to have the opportunity to be successful in life. Contributing to the establishment of the new life skills program is a fitting tribute to Lee particularly given our two families love for Razorback athletics."

Points for the Lee Spencer Life Skills Award will be allocated to teams based on their commitment to the four areas emphasized in the CHAMPS Life Skills program including academic and athletic excellence, personal development, career development and community service. The winning team will be recognized at the spring student-athletes banquet and at next fall’s first home football game.

“We are grateful to Greg and Hannah Lee for their commitment to supporting the growth and development of our more than 450 student-athletes,” Arkansas Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long said. “Through their generosity, we are able to develop an enhanced life skills program and ensure that all Razorback student-athletes are equipped to succeed on the field, in the classroom and in the community. The Razorback program is proud to be associated with an award that promotes student-athlete development and honors the memory and the legacy of Lee Spencer.”

Greg and Hannah Lee as well as Cyndy Spencer, the wife of the late Lee Spencer, were honored in an on-field ceremony at the Arkansas-Ole Miss football game on Saturday night at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.
