Tuesday Digital Television Transition JACKSONVILLE - Michael Mc-Cullars of AETN will explain the upcoming switch to digital television to be in effect beginning February 2009 during a presentation at 10:30 a.m. at the Nixon Library. For more information, call (501) 982-5533.

Wednesday Dog-Walking Club BATESVILLE - The Independence County Humane Society dog-walking club meets at 8 a.m. Wednesdays to walk shelter dogs to helpsocialize the animals and give them new, real-world experience. For more information, call (870) 793-0090.

Friday through Sunday, Sept. 14 Studio Tour MOUNTAIN VIEW - The seventh annual “Off the Beaten Path” Studio Tour will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 14. Visitors will have a chance to see local artists at work in their studios. Twenty-five artists will open their private working studios to the public for this free, self-guided driving tour. The studios will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. All studios are within 30 miles of theCourt Square in Mountain View.

An artists’ reception and exhibit on Friday evening will be hosted by The Citizens Bank in Mountain View, 411 Sylamore Ave. at Wal-Mart Drive. An exhibit of work by Off the Beaten Path Studio Tour Artists will be on display in the bank.

Friday and Saturday Weekly Flea Market SEARCY - Paws Inn, a no-kill animal shelter whose building is in the works, holds a mini-flea market from 1-4:30 p.m. Fridays and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays at 207 N. Oak in Searcy. Proceeds go toward the building of the shelter. Janey Berkley, a Paws Inn board member who manages the flea market, said the items sold are of good quality and many are name brands. Clothes are 25 cents, shoes and purses are 50 cents, and other odds and ends are affordably priced. Paws Inn also accepts items for donation to the flea market daily at the same address. Saturday Yard Sale HORSESHOE BEND - The Horseshoe Bend Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor its fall citywide yard sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. To sign up for the sale or reserve a spot at the mall, call the Chamber office at (870) 670-5433. The signup deadline is at 3 p.m. Wednesday. Maps and the list of the saleswill be given out at 7:30 a.m. the morning of the sale.

Dutch Oven Workshop POWHATAN - The Powhatan Historic State Park will host an advanced Victorian Dutch-oven workshop from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The registration fee is $25. This workshop focuses on the tricks of desserts, breads and other foods all produced from a Dutch oven. Theregistration fee pays for materials. Space is limited. Health Fair POCAHONTAS - The seventh annual Prostate Cancer Screening and Health Fair will be from 8 a.m. to noon at the Pocahontas Community Center at 205 Geneva Drive. Free prostate screenings willbe offered to men over 35 or from a family with a history of prostate cancer. Free mammogram certificates will be given to women over 40. Cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar, hearing tests, free tetanus shots, vision screenings and more will be available to the public.
