CONWAY - John H. Dunn, Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 10 has started a donation drive for a van purchase. This van will be donated to Gunther’s Veterans Home in Vilonia.
The chapter will sponsor a raffle at the Faulkner County fair Tuesday through Sept. 20 for a $200 gift card. Members will also be at Wal-Mart Supercenter on Dave Ward Drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday to sell raffle tickets and seek donation. All proceeds will beapplied to the van program.
Bill Terry, adjutant, said the previous van used by the nine to 15 veterans has worn out. He said a new van is needed to transport these veterans to appointments and outings. Gunther’s Veterans Home is privately owned and operated by Virginia Newnum and her son, Carroll Gunther, for more than 22 years. He said the home is approved by the Veterans Administration and the state of Arkansas.
“The chapter hopes to receive enough donations to find a replacement 12- to 15-passenger van or a donated working van,” Terry said.
Donations may be sent to John H. Dunn, DAV, Chapter 10, P. O. Box 2172, Conway AR 72033- 2172 and earmark it Gunther’s Veterans Home Van.
“We are a 501c(4) veterans’ organization, and should you request a donation form, we will return one to you,” Terry said.
