‘Patch’ for alternative tax up for Senate vote

WASHINGTON — The Senate is expected to pass a one-year “patch” on the alternative minimum tax as early as today. That would shield millions of taxpayers from a formula that was designed more than 30 years ago to hit only the extremely wealthy.
