Games, races, prizes highlight Frontier Day

PLAINVIEW - The Plainview Frontier Day will be held on Main Street this year beginning with a parade at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Barbecue sandwiches and popcorn will be served beginning at 11 a.m. before the parade by the Plainview Community Library.
Entertainment will begin at 2 p.m. with Jasa Connell, a clogger. Other entertainment includes Haley Patterson, Satisfied, the Frontier Costume Contest, Rachel Ornsbey, bubble gum blowing and hog calling contest, Cloggers from Mountain View, Walk on Faith, The Ramblers, the Yates Family and Pastor Eddy Howell leading frontier songs.
There will also be train rides, vendors, a country store, pumpkin patch, Sweet Shop/Ice CreamParlor and silent auction.
Other events include ring toss, grab bags, sucker tree, sand treasure, face painting, gun raffle, basketball shoot, darts, toy walk, duck pond, prize walk and a dunking booth, along with frontiers photographs and many other contests and races.
A special designed T-shirt with The Main Street Murals will be for sale at the Information Booth as well as a free brochure showing where and when every event will be during the day. Food will be sold throughout the afternoon.
