Nathan Brown, Central Arkansas 29%
Scott Buisson, Arkansas-Monticello 37%
Casey Dick, Arkansas 2%
Corey Leonard, Arkansas State 30%

Best Quarterback: Nathan Brown
Comment: Hands down, NATHAN BROWN. All you have to do is look at Nathan Brown's career record at Central Arkansas and his career stats. Brown is a legit NFL prospect and has the scouts following his progress this season. After seeing him play in the Southland Conference the last couple of years, the kid is VERY good. First full year in conference play he led the Southland in passing 3,084yds 26tds and 10 ints. Through 5 games this year he has 1,458yds, 14tds 0ints. Any of the others match up?

Best Quarterback: Nate "Superman" Brown
Comment: Every Quarterback listed deserves all the credit that they receive. Well, except C. Dick that is. I do not have a negative thing to say about Buisson or Leonard, but Nate Brown is the man. If you factor in both football stats and football IQ, he goes straight to the top of the list. I could go on and on about all of his college accolades, but I can't wait to see him take a snap in the League. He may not "Joe Flacco" it because he doesn't have the prototypical NFL size, but I fully expect to see him do his thing on Sundays sometime in the future. GO NATE! MORE IMPORTANTLY, GO BEARS!!!!!!!!!

Best Quarterback: Corey Leonard
Comment: Leonard is just a JR, and is a field general. His WR's are decent at best, but he still puts up nummbers consistently against 1-A competition. Leonard runs a 4.5 40 yard dash, and is 7th in the Sun Belt conference in rushing, to go with his passing stats. Of his 2 INT's thrown this year, one hit his WR in the hands and deflected right to a defender. Corey may not have the height to play in the NFL, but as far as a college QB, you can't go wrong with stAte's #1!

October 9, 2008 8:56:29 PM city: Little Rock

Comment: Nathan exemplifies teamwork, field leadership, skill and the ability to read defenses, very quickly. His command of the game is far superior to Dicks, Leonards, and Buisson. If you haven't witnessed his accuracy, his ability to elude the pass rush and his lightning fast reads, you haven't seen what the pro scouts are drooling over! Comparing the other QBs to Nathan is a joke! Compare oranges to oranges and Nathan is a national leader at his level of football. If he played at ASU or uaf he would lead ASU or uaf to Bowl games with ease. Anyone who has seen him play knows that Nathan has the "it" factor..something the other three just can't come close to and NFL teams crave so much! Nearly 9000 yards and 80+ TDs..the stats speak for themselves..Go Nathan!

Comment: I have watched Nathan Brown play at UCA for four years. From his first start as a freshman he has been a team leader and a team player. Nathan has never cared about personal stats as long as the Bears win. Although his stats are the best ever in the state of Arkansas for a quarterback, he is still the most humble kid you will ever meet. Nathan is a winner on and off the field. Leonard is great, and I haven't seen Buisson play, but Nathan is the only one of the 4 to have no INTs on the year. And that's including Tulsa, which is not a shabby team. You could put Corey in casey dicks shoes anyday and he would run out of them. dick doen't even belong in the first string slot. I have seen better highschool QB's then him. Comment: Nathan Brown has consistantly put up the best numbers of all the QB's while running a very complex offense, and playing against tough competition his entire career at UCA. He not only produces gaudy numbers, but is a strong leader of his team and has garnered the most attention of the four from NFL scouts. I believe that Brown will be the only one of these four QB's to play on Sundays. Also, I think it is an extreme discredit to the Sports Writing staff at the ADG if you actually all agreed that Casey Dick should be included in this debate for his performance on the field. I can only assume that he was included because he is the starter for the flagship program of the state and you felt required to include him. He is awful.

Comment: He has led a drastic turnaround by a team that finished last season with only four wins. The team is now the only Arkansas team getting votes for the top 25. This quarterback has been leading the conference in rushing, averaging over 130 yards a game, by over 50 yards a game. He is the first player and only player in NCAA history to pass for over 400 yards and rush for over 200 yards in the same game. The only other guy that came close rushed for 121 and his name is Steve McNair, NFL MVP. Statstics can't possibly tell you what this QB is like on the field though. Let's just say there is a reason the national media has nicknamed him "Houdini".

Anyone who can pass for over 400 yards and run for over 200 yards against a very good Henderson State football team is truly the best quarterback in the state and maybe even the best quarterback in the entire division II football league. He is a beast to be reckoned with and I believe that he will be even better in the years to come. Yes, I did say years because this kid is just a sophmore. He still has at least one more year to play great football for UAM. This kid could not only be the best quarterback in the state now but he could be the best quarterback in state history. He is on his way and if he continues playing like he is now, he could surpass even the greatest from the natural state. Don't be surprised to see this kid on Sundays in a few years!

(I don't get down to Monticello much, but I'm sure Buisson is a fine quarterback.) In my opinion, Nathan Brown could be playing for a SEC level school and thrive in the right system. He makes good decisions and few mistakes. His low release point could potentially be a problem against better defenses, but he played well against Tulsa. We know how critical people are about the height and weight requirements to make it but you can make it if you are talented. Just look at two quarterbacks who are 6'0 and shorter in Chase Daniel from Mizzou and Tod Reesing from Kansas. They just find a way to get the job done and win. Just like Buisson. Go Weevils

Best Quarterback: Nathan Brown
Comment: Brown has Leonard and the rest of the field beat in every category. Casey Dick - 2008: 1,189 yards, 5 TDs; career: 4,459 yards, 39 TDs Corey Leonard - 2008: 1,110 yards, 10 TDs; career: 4,666 yards, 34 TDs Scott Buisson - 2008: 193 yards, 2 TDs; career: 393 yards, 2 TDs NATHAN BROWN - 2008: 1,458 yards, 14 TDs; career: 6,408 yards, 59 TDs (all stats from ESPN.com) More total yardage than any other QB in state history at any college - The choice seems very obvious. By the way, UCA plays Tulsa and University of California this year - not too shabby as far as competition goes...

Best Quarterback: Scott Buison
Comment: I have watched each of these quarterbacks this season and I think that no quarterback means more to his team than Scott Buisson. Leonard and Brown are both very impressive quarterbacks but Buisson has turned a UAM team around from a 2-20 record over the 05 and 06 seasons to an 8-8 record since Buisson became a starter. The weevils are 4-2 and breaking MANY offensive yardage records this season. My order is Buisson, Brown, Leonard, and the other unimportant guy(lol)

Best Quarterback: Scott Buisson
Comment: It's clear classification has no bearing - see Casey Dick's 4% - but it's also clear that Buisson's stats are by far the most impressive and the teams UAM has faced are certainly comparable to UCA and maybe even ASU. Somebody missed out bigtime because Buisson plays a lot bigger than 5-10. And he's a sophomore.

Best Quarterback: Scott Buisson
Comment: Scott Buisson is certainly the most valuable of all the QBs listed. His ability is top-notch. He's the first player in NCAA history to pass for 400 yards and rush for 200 yards in a game. He led UAM to an 800-yard offensive effort against Harding last year. The kid's the real deal.

Best Quarterback: Casey Dick
Comment: You cannot compare the 4. Buisson is in Div. II for God sakes. Put him in the SEC and see what he does. He wouldnt make the roster. Leonard is a decent QB who is atleast in Div I-A. But put him in Dick's shoes and see what he does. He would be our 4th or 5th string QB. Nathan Brown is one who you could argue for. He is a great QB, for a Div. I-AA. If you put him in the SEC like Casey has to do every week, he would be a solid QB. He would be very comparable to Casey's numbers. This poll is a joke, because your going to have all the UCA and UAM and ASU morons get on here and vote over and over and over for their man. When us true Hog fans will do it once to just check it out. We all know who is a more talented QB. To compare a QB in the SEC, who is leading the SEC in passing, to a great Div. I-AA QB, a solid Sun Belt QB, and a fluke of a Div. II QB is ludicrous.

Comment: I suspect your vote tally is incorrect. I tried to vote, but was told my vote was not recorded since someone from my site has already voted. I can assure you no one has voted from my computer in my locked office. ------------------------------------ One way to guage a player is to look at what the team would do without him in the line-up. If Dick were not in the line-up, no one would really notice a fall off in talent. UCA and ASU would both be hurt some if their QB were out. If Buisson goes down with an injury, UAM is in serious trouble. He is the heart, soul, and talent of that team.

Also, is the only QB in NCAA history regardless of division to rush for 200 yds and pass for 400 yds in a single game.

Comment: Nathan was overlooked coming out of high school, mainly because he had backed up Landon Leach for 2 years at Russellville High School, then finally started his senior year, BUT OH WHAT A SENIOR YEAR. He threw for over 400 yards in a playoff game against Cabot, and he would have quarterbacked Russellville to a victory over Conway if it hadn't been for that one-man wrecking crew named Peyton Hillis. But now, I thank God that Houston Nutt overlooked him, because he would have been ruined in Nutt's terrible system at Arkansas. Clint Conque has had a lot to do with Nathan's development, but, if you knew Nathan like I know Nathan (he's my younger sister's son), you would understand why he is so successful.

His game management, accurate arm and leg strengh has helped him elude multiple onslaughts from opponents. His desire to be a leader and enormous passion for the game overcome any miscues that occure. Polls such as this give fans the opportunity to express their opinions in an open forum without ridicule.
