Big game, big talk

BACK IN THE RUNNING

The print on Saturday’s editions was still fresh when Arkansas running back Darren McFadden’s name was starting to recirculate in Heisman Trophy talk after a 206-yard, 3-touchdown performance in Arkansas’ 50-48 triple-overtime victory over LSU on Friday in Baton Rouge.

MIKE JENSEN, PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER

“For my money, McFadden won the Heisman last night.”

LSU COACH LES MILES

“Certainly, he had a Heisman performance today.”

ARKANSAS RUNNING BACK DARREN McFADDEN

“However you want to put it, numbers speak for themselves.”

EPSN HEISMAN WATCH

“Arkansas' do-everything back did it all for Hogs against LSU. McFadden rushed for 206 yards and three touchdowns on 32 carries. If that wasn't enough, he also tossed a TD pass to lead the Razorbacks to a 50-48 upset win in three overtimes. Hope McFadden enjoys the flight to NYC. The junior's late-season rush should land him there.”

MATT ZEMEK, COLLEGE FOOTBALL NEWS

“Darren McFadden, the single most impressive specimen in all of college football, who looked and played the part of a man among boys.”

HOUSTON NUTT, ARKANSAS FOOTBALL COACH

“He’s the Heisman Trophy guy. The guy deserves the trophy. It’s not right for his name not to be mentioned as No. 1 right now. He blocks, he catches, he quarterbacks, throws, he reads, he runs the football with passion and determination. He really deserves a serious look.”

DAVID LEE, ARKANSAS ASSISTANT COACH

“He did it running, he did it throwing, he did it quarterbacking, he did it tailbacking. Who else in the country can do all the things he did tonight?”

AND THEN THERE WAS...

GET IT RIGHT, LES

Razorbacks running back Darren McFadden was steamed all week as he heard LSU coach Les Miles purposely mispronounce Arkansas as ar-KANSAS in soundbites.

“They weren't saying it right, so we wanted to let them know how to say it.”

BUTTERFLIES

Darren McFadden nervous? Maybe not nervous, but Friday’s three-overtime game with LSU had McFadden stressed a bit:

"It's just nerve-racking."

McFadden's Passing Game

I've heard some people say he's better than Casey. I DO NOT think that, but he is pretty good I have to admit! He had a pretty good game against LOUIS-ANA, and I agree that triple overtime is nerve racking just watching, I can't amagine playing! -- Luke Robbins
