LITTLE ROCK — At some point long ago, a year-end review of the state’s most important sports stories became a staple of Arkansas journalism. As you probably could have guessed, no previous year even remotely compares to 2007.

The subject matter examined by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette staff amounts to an embarrassment of riches. At least a dozen of the 20 selected topics could have easily led any past annual surveys.
