LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas Democrat-Gazette staff writer Tom Murphy sat down with new Arkansas Athletic Director Jeff Long on Thursday and discussed the recent past as well as what the future holds for Razorbacks athletics. Long, 48, completed his first official month as Arkansas’ athletic director last week.

Q. Chancellor John White’s resignation came pretty soon after your official start. Did it catch you off guard a little?

A. I can’t say it caught me off guard, because Chancellor White was certainly fair with me during the interview process.
