The University of Arkansas again has a defensive coordinator. The university announced Wednesday that Willy Robinson will be the defensive coordinator and safeties coach.
Robinson, 51, is a 30-year coaching veteran with stints as a defensive coordinator at both the college and professional level. He spent 12 years as an assistant coach in the National Football League. Last season, he was the secondary coach for the St. Louis Rams.
“We are extremely fortunate to add Willy Robinson to our coaching staff,” Petrino said. “He is an excellent coach and teacher of the game. He has extensive experience as a coordinator and an assistant coach on the collegiate level and in the NFL. His wealth of knowledge and experience will be a tremendous asset to our staff.”
Robinson was announced as the new defensive coordinator at a news conference announcing new recruits.
Petrino lost defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson to South Carolina on Jan. 24. Johnson had been on the job 20 days
